Your Questions About Macbook Pro Review

Mary asks…

The CONS of an Apple MacBook Pro?

I just want to know the cons. I’ve heard heaps of reviews on a MacBook Pro and they all sound extremely good. However, my friend says that Macs are over-priced and isn’t worth the money. are there any other cons?

admin answers:

1) Mac’s can’t (as a rule) run Windows-only software. However, there are Mac programs (like Wine and Crossover) that will let you run some Windows programs on OS X (Mac’s operating system). Also, if you shell out the cash to buy a retail Windows XP or Vista disk you can *very easily* install Windows on your Mac. I have XP Pro installed on my iMac for the times I need to run a Win-only program.

2) If you REALLY know Windows, there might be a bit of a learning curve getting used to Mac. If all you do is check email, watch videos, play with your digital pictures, listen to music, ect….Mac’s are a lot easier to work with.

3) The cost is high. However, if you were to get a PC with the exact same specs as a MacBook Pro you’d be looking at pretty dang close to the same cost.

4) You can’t change the hardware yourself. All you can really change yourself is the RAM. Everything else is really sealed up. But if you don’t intend to swap out your video card or hard drive yourself, it’s not a big deal.

5) If you need help, your friends who don’t have Mac’s won’t be able to help you. But there are awesome Apple comunities online that offer great help, and Apple itself has lots of free software support.

That’s about it! I switched from PC’s to Macs in late 2007 and I’ve never looked back. I really love the fact that since I can install Windows on it, it’s basically two computers in one. So it’s actually a good deal! Ask your friend to try to run GarageBand on his PC and see what happens :)

I hope that helped!

Good fitting sleeve for 13 inch MacBook Pro?

Has anyone found a laptop sleeve that fits the new 13 inch MacBook Pro well? I keep reading reviews that all of the ones made for 13 inch computers fit the white and black MacBooks but are a little too big for the aluminum MacBook Pros.

admin answers:

Yes, I have the thirteen inch MacBook Pro right now and they sold cases like that in the store. You can also buy them online. Mine is pink, but if you don’t like that is also comes in black, gray, red, orange, light blue, and brown. It’s about thirty five dollars, but it has really soft material on the inside and it is great for protecting the laptop. It fits perfectly. You are right, that the MacBook ones definitely will not fit the MacBook Pro, but the one I have is absolutely perfect. The URL is below to look at it. Really hope I could help.

Carol asks…

Macbook Pro users what do you recommend for watching live tv?

I have a macbook pro and would like to watch live tv on it. So far someone recommended an elgato eyetv hybrid and 250 and a slingbox. The elgato eyetv hybrid and 250 had terrible reviews on apple.com and I’ve never even heard of a slingbox. Does anyone have any experience with either of theses things. Which would you recommend/works best? Is there anything that would work better?

admin answers:

You shouldn’t buy anything from apple if they have all bad reviews.

Macbook pro 2010 customer reviews?

I’m going to buy the new macbook pro (13″). I would love some reviews on the product! Any likes, dislikes, opinions, advice would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you have one, how long had it lasted? (I realize the pro that Im looking at just came out in april, but how long any mac laptop has lasted for you!)

Thanks!
Hannah M, could you tell me why you wish you would have saved the money?

And if i got the regular macbook, i would upgrade to 4GB memory, which makes the price difference $50. Would you get the pro for a $50 difference?
