Your Questions About Macbook Pro 13

Nancy asks…

Which internet router for Macbook Pro 13 inch?

I am looking to buy the 13 inch Macbook Pro. I was wondering which router goes best with the Macbook?

admin answers:

It really doesn’t matter what router you have. Macs will recognize any router. What you need to look at is the speed.

Sandra asks…

Is the Macbook Pro 13″ too small, should I get the 15″?

I am going to buy a new laptop and I think I am going to go with an Apple Macbook Pro. I do not know whether to get a 13” or a 15″. The 13” is a lot easier for me because of pricing but I am worried that the screen is too small. I will use it for facebook, browsing the web, youtube, downloading, music, movies, any homework/projects.
What do you guys think?

Good question Joe! I have been a Mac user since 1994 and you are not the first to ask that! I think I have had about 9 Macs total. I have asked the same question myself and actually own both the 15in and the 13inch MacBooks. I have a 15in PowerBook G4 and I am writing your answer here on a 13in MacBook.

Based on the what you wrote in your question, I really think you would do fine with the 13inch model. It not only is less expensive, but carrying it around is nicer because it is smaller in your backpack and less weight on your back. I have traveled all over the world with my Mac and with traveling is where the smaller 13in would be most appreciated. I miss the bigger screen when I want to work on big graphs for work and that is where the small screen for me is a little frustrating. But normally I can work on those back home on a big screen iMac, so, c’est la vie. You just can’t have it all in just one gizmo. In fact, you might want to even consider the new iPad, which is even much easier to carry around, and you can easily use it for facebook, browsing the web, youtube, music, movies, etc, which is about 85% of what you need some kind of Apple gizmo for! Maybe the cool and smaller iPad is all you need!

Can you get to an Apple store? I suggest you get over to one somehow and just spend 2 hours there surfing and browsing and using all three of their products to see how you like them for different things. Really try the things you like on the iPad, then try the 13in for at least 30 minutes, and then try the 15in model for another 30 minutes. Then go back to the 13in. This will really help you make up your mind! Its a big purchase, so an hour or two test driving them is the least you should do. And the Apple store is always a fun experience too! Bring a friend or two and make a date out of it with a movie afterwards.

Two other final things. As a student, you can get Apples educational discount, and many times they have a seasonal special where they also give away an iPod touch with a purchase of a MacBook.

And secondly, you should also consider a second-hand Mac. I have bought both new and used, and I have had great luck in buying 2 used Apple laptops. Craigs List and Ebay both work good for that. I would favor Craigs List and meeting the seller in person. The thing to keep in mind for that is that whatever model you get, you want to buy an Apple laptop with the Apple Extended Warranty. See the link below for more info in the AppleCare Protection Plan. It is totally worth the price, since if you ever had a problem with the screen or motherboard, those things would cost way more than the warranty. It adds 2 years onto the original warranty for 3 years total, (including 3 years of Apple TELEPHONE technical support! You want this, its great!) AND it is transferable to another mac user! So, if you buy a used Apple laptop in nice new condition, but that the person just wants to sell to get another model or something , then you can still have maybe two and a half or two years warranty on it still.

Good luck, and have fun with your new Apple, no matter which model you end up getting!
