Your Questions About Macbook Air Battery

Thomas asks…

Macbook Air or Pro? REQUIREMENT ADDED. AND WHICH AND HOW CAN I UPGRADE?

Firstly, my budget is $2,000. I just can spend for it only since it’s a gift. So, if you can help me, do it with upgrade and things that get it near or maybe more a lil, it would be so nice.

This is what I need from it:

_It should be small, MAX 13 inches because I really need to move a lot everyday.
_The faster, the better.
_I heard that Macbook Air is getting hot really fast, and I really need to use it a lot, like 5 hours to 10 hours per day. And each time I use for at least 4 to 5 hours straight.
_Better battery because sometimes, I’m not home. So, I really prefer the long lasting and durable battery. (Is it any possible way that I can upgrade this?)
_Fast (I just use for check emails, skype, facebook games, youtube, movies online, music, and Pages and Numbers)

I JUST CAN BUY IN STORE :( SADLY. SO,… IF YOU HAVE A WEBSITE INSTRUCTING ON WHAT AND HOW TO UPGRADE, IT WOULD BE GREAT

And so, if there is anything I can add on to make it better on those, please tell!!

THANK YOU!! :| AND IF IT COULD BE, LAST FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS.

Get the 13inch macbook pro its really good for all the things you want! Also the macbook air has no disc drive that’s the reason I didn’t get the air! The pro is only $1400 I think so that’s within your budget! One other thing that you might want to think about is if you want to game then you don’t want a mac cause there are hardly any GOOD games for mac only pc and others!
Anyway hope I helped!

Michael asks…

MacBook Air or iPad2?

I’m 11, and I need something that will keep me occupied for a while. It must be best at:
1.Internet
2.Being fun
3.Looks sleek and modern
4.Must last until 8th grade or maybe even college, so far, we can afford things only once
5.Needs to have long lasting battery (I’m going to Vietnam in the summer, and I need to do homework, or occupy myself for 15 hours on a single charge)
6.Best suited for a tween
I was thinking the MacBook Air for the future, but the iPad seems for of my age. My friend is getting and iPad2, and she’s telling me to get one. Is she right?
I also already have a iPod touch 4g, and I don’t really want another one.
Over suggestions, I think that I also need to know if:
1b. It can Facebook the best (please don’t get me started on THAT story)
2b. I think that’s it. If you need more info, just ask.

Haha I’m in 8th grade and i have the ipod touch 4g, my dad has the ipad, mac book air, iphone, etc. If I were you I would buy the ipod touch 4g instead. The reason is because once you go into college in about 6 years, they’ll have the ipad 8g, and the mac book air 8g, etc. So honestly, once you get the ipad or the mac book air, you’ll really want to go and but the next generation and every year you’ll really want it. So instead of splurging on a product you really don’t need, buy something cheaper that is pretty good, and then when you are off to college, buy the new generation. Trust me its worth it :) The ipod touch is cheap on amazon (200$), it can go on the internet, it looks sleek, it’ll last a long time, long battery life haha i watch movies and play games 4 hours, and its best suited for a teen. Also, for middle school you can fit the ipod in your pocket but the ipad, you can’t. Hope i helped!

Susan asks…

macbook air the right computer for me?

I don’t game, I do use internet A LOT. I am known to be on the computer for hours, work especially. I have gone through 3 computers in the last few years, mostly cheap crappy things that have just died on me. I am interested in the macbook air cause it’s light, easy to use and travel with and most likely is what I need in a good long lasting computer. The 11″ model seems perfect for me but before I drop over 1,000 dollars I wanted to get people’s input.

I like mac and think they are good computers. Like I said, I don’t game and don’t use a lot of memory, just need a GOOD laptop to get work done, and one with a good battery and life span.

Helen asks…

21 Inch iMac or 11 Inch MacBook Air?

My birthday is approaching soon and I will either be asking for the 21 inch imac (it will be updated with faster processors and better graphics before my birthday) or the 11 inch macbook air but I can’t decide on which one I should ask for. These are two very different computers because the macbook air is obviously geared towards portability and the iMac towards power. Right now, I have a 2008 (non unibody) 15 inch macbook pro base line model (2.4ghz intel core2duo, 2 gigs of ram, 250 gig hard drive, nvidia geoforce 8600m gt) and I really need to update it because it’s starting to become slow for my needs and it doesn’t have enough hard drive space or graphics power for games like black ops. But I also want portability because it’s not a very light laptop and it gets on an average 2.5 hours of battery life which isn’t all that great. So should I go for portability or power?

admin answers:

First, congratulations with that weird dude or duderino that wants to give you either for your birthday! 1000$ gift, holy smokes!
The major problem with the slowness of your macbook is 2gb. That is just too little, 4Gb is minimum for the modern Apple OSes. Other consideration: swap the HD for a SSD.
I would probably pick the 13 inch Pro with 2.7ghz i5. That one is faster than the 15 inch for most applications as it has faster cores (few programs use all 4 cores of the 15 inch i7 models).
If you think the current Macbook pro is slow, than the Air will be a snail.
The iMac is something totally different. I don’t like the screens and the look of them, so the MacBook Pro with external screen would be a decent alternative to the iMac.

Sandy asks…

Should I get the Macbook Air 11′ or the Acer Aspire 1830T TimelineX?

I’m looking for a small light weight notebook that I can carry around on me for school. I have a iMac for home use that I love. All I want the notebook for is to type up notes/assignments and pretty much do homework/research on since I usually go to the library to do my work and I cannot take my iMac with me.

I really like the idea of getting the Macbook Air because its small lightweight and I’m already use to using a mac. I also already have a program for writing documents etc. that I can install on it.

My boyfriend is trying to convince me to go with the Acer Aspire 1830T TimelineX because it is cheaper and has 8 hours of battery life. The past laptops I owned I did not like and they broke down or got virus’ so i decided to get an iMac. Now I’m a little nervous for going back. The battery life doesn’t interest me that much because I plan on keeping my computer plugged in while I’m at the library. What worries me most is virus’.

I’m really confused as to what one I should buy. I also need this computer to last me for about 3+ years.

My must haves are:
Lightweight, Portable, Small, Durable.

There is no comparison. Get the MacBook Air, it is much higher rated. Your computers will synch & transfer files & information more easily. The Acer has similar battery life and complaints about the small trackpad and ergonomics. You’ll be fighting it to use it. And you’ll need an antivirus for it, so you’ll be wasting time with daily virus scans and updates.
There are no MacOS X viruses and just a handful of trojans which you would have to install with an admin password. On he Windows Acer you’ll have to deal with 1.25 million forms of malware.
I’d suggest looking at antitheft software like Undercover by Orbicule for the Air. It could help you get it back if it gets stolen.
